In synchrotron facilities, for example, the ELCOMAT® 5000 high-precision electronic autocollimator is used to characterise large synchrotron mirrors in deflectometric measurement setups. It records the local gradient of the surface topography of such mirrors with high precision. Another typical application is the angular measurement of the positioning movements of monochromators on the beamlines of synchrotron facilities.
