Welcome to the August/September issue of Electro Optics, landing on desks and optical tables now.
Hello? Is it Electro Optics you’re looking for? Then you’re in the right place.
In the communications-themed August/September issue of the magazine, Keely Portway investigates the role played by optics in servicing data communications centres with the capacity to meet the demands of the sector’s AI-driven future.
Country-specific photonics challenges from the Photonics100
But Summer is the time for catching up with old friends, so we get out our little black book, pick up the receiver and rack up some international call charges, as we hear from some of our global friends from previous Photonics100 selections. These P100 honourees tell us about the issues that represent the biggest challenges to their country or region.
Looking back to see ahead
It’s one of these past Photonics100 honourees, however, who stars in this month’s feature interview. Mark Cropper, Astrophysics professor at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory at UCL tells us all about the VIS camera his team developed for ESA’s Euclid satellite, launched last year, and how he’s hoping it will send back information on the origins of the universe.
On the other line…
Good evening Electro Optics, it’s EPIC Photonics calling! This month, EPIC’s Technology Manager for Bio-Medical and Lasers, Antonio Castelo, talks to Jean Sauvage Vincent, CEO of GLOphotonics, about his company’s approach to the photonics sector.
Hold please, because there’s still room for more, with a Tech Focus roundup on the latest optical components, subsystems and other photonics products in life sciences, as well as all the recent news from the world of photonics!
Until we speak again…
Coming in fast at the end of next month, our October 2024 issue will join the highly-anticipated Photonics100 2025 special print edition, arriving in November.
