The Netherlands and New York State have struck a partnership which will aim to strengthen innovation and collaboration in the semiconductor industry.
The partnership signifies the intent to advance semiconductor R&D and jointly improve workforce development, while at the same time recognising the two nations’ shared interest in sustainability within the industry.
Both Netherlands and New York State will work toward the goals by sharing best practices to drive innovative and sustainable solutions in semiconductor development and manufacturing. Examples of such knowledge include next-generation methods to strengthen the semiconductor supply chain, maximise power and water efficiency, as well as the development of new materials.
Alongside the manufacturing benefits, the agreement will also provide opportunities for academic collaboration between New York and Dutch universities. This includes a New York State programme which will sponsor the attendance of up to five students from State University of New York schools at the Eindhoven Semiconductor Summer School programme in the Netherlands this summer.
The agreement effectively was ratified with a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which was signed by Governor Kathy Hochul and Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Liesje Schreinemacher during the New York/Netherlands Semicon Forum.
