Laser Components has released the CW laser diode ADL-65074zl from Arima, which the firm says is the first laser source that can be mounted directly on a circuit board as an SMD while featuring a hermetically sealed dust- and humidity-proof TO56 cap.
The sealed SMD laser source is currently available for the 655nm wavelength and delivers 10mW of laser power at an operating current of 25mA.
“ADL-65074zl is the first laser diode that combines the advantages of SMD mounting and TO56 packaging,” said Manuel Herbst, product engineer at Laser Components. “It is quite possible that this solution will soon become the new industry standard."
