How to scale photonics as a business is the topic for one of EPIC’s most important events in the coming year. The European Photonics Industry Consortium is holding a day-long summit in San Francisco, USA, next week, on the eve of Photonics West 2025.
The innovative body hopes this meeting will share best practices related to manufacturing in the photonics industry. Speakers, including Coherent’s Chris Dorman – the company’s Executive Vice President (Lasers Segment) and a recent speaker at the first Photonics100 Meet-Up held in Manchester, UK – delivers the keynote, and others will present their perspective on industry challenges and how to overcome them. Related sectors, such as the semiconductor market known for its high-volume and automated production manufacturing, will also be discussed as a way of evaluating if they hold some of the answers.
The meeting will also debate supply-chain management and outsourcing strategies, automation, the design of one’s own proprietary tools, product design for volume manufacturing, and standardisation. Sessions will be pacey – all presentations are to be capped at 15 minutes, followed by five minutes for Q&A. Breaks in the programme have been made longer to allow time for networking.
Photonics100 honouree Carlos Lee will moderate the event, which also features appearances from Bay Photonics CEO Glenn George and Fluence’s CEO Michał Nejbauer. Electro Optics is the media partner for the event and will be sharing some of the discussion as part of its partnership with EPIC.
