French firm 3S Photonics has announced a fiscal year 2011 consolidated turnover of €51 million, 64 per cent greater than 2010.
The increase was driven by sales in the terrestrial and submarine long distance transmissions markets. 3S’ long distance transmission market share now stands at 10 per cent against seven per cent in 2010. 3S also said that the revenue growth was aided by 'positive business developments' in its Korean and Canadian subsidiaries.
'The excellent results of our 2011 fiscal year demonstrate the success of our consolidation and diversification strategy, especially on the terrestrial long distance market,’ said 3S Photonic’s president and chief executive officer Alexandre Krivine.
In its results statement the company also said its financial position strengthened, because its 'operating expenses remained stable compared to 2010'. Krivine expects 2012 to be equally successful because of the company’s 'new investments and a diversification of its activities' beyond the telecommunications market. 3S also operates in the laser and sensors markets.
