Cobolt has announced the appointment of Håkan Karlsson as new CEO and director of marketing and sales. Håkan is a co-founder of the company and holds a PhD in laser physics. Former CEO, Rune Glavare, will remain involved in the company as chairman of the board.
Cobolt started as a spin-out from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in 2001 and introduced its first DPSS laser products to the market in 2003. The company’s line of low-noise diode pumped CW lasers at 473nm, 491nm, 515nm, 532nm and 561nm has since gained broad market acceptance, resulting in a revenue growth of >500 per cent over the past two years. The company recently moved into a new facility in Stockholm that provides a tripling of the production capacity.
