Melles Griot has been acquired by CVI, with the terms of the agreement yet to be disclosed.
The acquisition brings together two worldwide providers of optical and laser technology. Melles Griot is active in 41 countries, and CVI operates in New Mexico, California, Great Britain and South Korea, with its products distributed in many more countries.
Blake Fennel, CEO of Melles Griot, says: 'This is a great opportunity for the Melles Griot team to focus on photonic technologies within a company dedicated to the industry.
The move will allow CVI to produce lasers and optics in high volume, together with more complex assemblies. It is part of a wider strategy to expand CVI's product lines and manufacturing capabilities to address growing market opportunities.
