Scottish technology company M Squared Lasers has announced the appointment of two new directors, David Vettese and Alan Porter.
Vetesse joins as sales director, a position he formerly held at Forth Dimensions Displays, an NTE microdisplay supplier. He will primarily be based in Glasgow, although he will oversee the existing sales staff in the USA and agents throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Porter, a chartered accountant who learned his trade during nine years at PWC, will take the role of financial director, following a five-year spell at software manufacturers Graham Technology and Sword Ciboodle.
Dr Graeme Malcolm, managing director of M Squared Lasers, said: 'David and Alan join us at an exciting stage in the development of the business. That we were able to attract candidates of such a high calibre is testament to the success we have enjoyed in the last 12 months.
'David brings with him a fantastic record of success and a proven ability to develop international sales operations, which will be invaluable as we seek to grow our own sales team in the USA, Asia, and in particular, Europe. Alan is hugely respected with both in-house and advisory experience. He will be a hugely successful addition to the team here in Glasgow.'
Established in 2006, M Squared Lasers aims to solve real-world problems across a range of sectors, from explosives detection to biomedicines, using laser technology. The company develops and manufactures next-generation lasers and photonic instruments from its Glasgow headquarters.
Around 50 per cent of its sales are from North America, where it opened a subsidiary in Silicon Valley in 2011. A further 30 per cent originates in Asia, from Japan, China and Korea, where the company works with third-party distributors.
