Photonic solutions provider Gooch & Housego has appointed Dr Murray Reed as chief technology officer.
The position of chief technology officer is a new one and Reed will take over responsibility for all engineering, research and development activities across Gooch & Housego. Reed has over twenty years’ experience in the optics and laser industry where he has lead complex engineering projects and developed successful new products in a highly competitive commercial environment.
Gareth Jones, Gooch & Housego chief executive officer, said: ‘The creation of this important new position and the recruitment of such an experienced person are significant steps in Gooch & Housego’s development. I have known Murray Reed for over twenty years; I am very pleased that we will be able to benefit from his extensive skills and experience.’
Most recently Reed was general manager of New Focus, a subsidiary of Newport Corporation, and prior to that he was engineering vice president at Coherent.
