A short course entitled 'Basics on lasers and laser material processing' will take place as part of Lasys, which runs from 8-10 June 2010 in Stuttgart. The course is organised by the German Scientific Laser Society (WLT) under the guidance of Andreas Ostendorf.
The event will primarily address visitors who have little experience with lasers and laser technology. The compact lectures will not only provide an overview of laser beam sources and laser material processing, but will also clearly outline the latest technology and current trends. The course is thus also a useful tool for providing experienced visitors with updated information. All the industries in which the laser is used for processing purposes, from the metal industry to electrical engineering to the building of prototypes, will be addressed.
The lectures have been put together in such a way that they provide possible solutions for everyday use and identify criteria for the selection of optimal beam sources and specific application systems. The course will be rounded off with the theme of public funding possibilities in Germany.
The course takes place on 8 June from 10.00 to 13.30 in the ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart. Speaking at the event are a collection of renowned laser experts: Prof Dr-Ing Andreas Ostendorf, German Scientific Laser Society (WLT); Prof Dr-Ing Ralf Eckhard Beyer, Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology (IWS); Prof Dr-Ing Michael Schmidt and Dr-Ing Thomas Frick, Bayerisches Laserzentrum GmbH (blz); Prof Dr-Ing Claus Emmelmann, Institute of Laser and System Technologies (ILAS) at the Hamburg-Harburg Technical University; Dr Stefan Kaierle, Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) and Dipl-Phys Gerhard Funke, VDI Technologiezentrum. Prof Dr Ralf Menzel from the University of Potsdam has also been invited to attend.
