In its fortieth year, Laser World of Photonics 2013 saw almost 27,000 visitors from 74 countries with significantly more visitors from China, Russia and South Korea and its number of exhibitors grew to 1,136 from 37 countries.
Held in Munich from 13 to 16 May, Laser World of Photonics and its Congress, saw the topics of 3D printing, medical technology and biophotonics discussed while economic reports forecasted solid industry growth.
‘We enjoy the world-leading character, the international show public and the strong congress programme. At 40, the Laser World of Photonics exudes a maturity that will benefit the continuing disproportionate growth in photonics,’ said Dr Wilhelm Kaenders. He is chairman of the Laser World of Photonics advisory board and management board member of Toptica Photonics.
According to its organiser Messe München International, 97 per cent of participants, gave the trade fair an overall rating of ‘excellent to good’.
Professor Dr Peter Loosen is deputy director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT. He is also chairman of the steering committee of the World of Photonics Congress. He said: ‘The congress is one of the most important events in the world in the photonics field. The combination of trade fair and congress is unique.’
