Vacuum applications and system integration specialist Micos has been taken over by fellow German nano-positioning company Physik Instrumente (PI).
Karlsruhe, Germany based-PI intends to supplement its extensive micro- and nanopositioning portfolio with Micos’ offerings including the use of air bearing technology and linear motors, while Lucius Amelung will remain the new subsidiary’s managing director.
Amelung said, ‘We have found a strong, experienced partner in PI. We are acquiring a new global presence while maintaining our product portfolio, the Eschenbach location and the contacts for our customers.'
While PI managing director Dr Karl Spanner is expecting a lot of synergy from the two companies' integration. He said: 'Our use of common resources – such as technical know-how, many years of experience, highly qualified employees and extensive industry knowledge – opens up new potentials.’
