SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics based in Bellingham, Washington, has promoted three staff members. Randy Cross has been promoted to director of event services and venues at SPIE. He is responsible for writing and negotiating contracts for event facilities and hotels for SPIE North American events, providing input on international event facility contracts, and managing other facility commitments.
Peter Hallett has been promoted to director of marketing and industry relations at SPIE. He leads the team responsible for marketing and public relations communications, database marketing and analytics, brand management, and design of web and print materials. He retains his prior responsibilities as manager of sales of exhibitions, sponsorships, and advertising.
Tom Greer has been promoted to manager of IT Operations at SPIE. The IT Operations team is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and security of all core network infrastructure including web systems, database systems, storage networks, email and telephone communications, computer desktop systems, and remote access systems.
