SPIE has appointed Steve Anderson as industry and market strategist. He will be based near Washington DC. Anderson moves from his previous role as editor-in-chief of Laser Focus World.

'His efforts will strengthen SPIE's connections with industry and our work in creating a dynamic network linking educators and researchers with application developers and business leaders in the photonics industry. His expertise will help the society to increase the scope and depth of resources for our industry members and customers.'
Anderson’s presence near Washington and familiarity with the industry in Europe, Asia, and North America will enhance the ability of SPIE to raise the visibility of photonics among policy makers and national research agencies, Arthurs said.
