Tom Hausken has joined the Optical Society as the engineering and applications senior advisor to support OSA’s programmes with its Optoelectronics Industry Development Association.
Hausken most recently served as the principal and director at Strategies Unlimited in Mountain View, where he led market research for a variety of optical and electronic components.
‘Tom brings a tremendous amount of experience from the optoelectronics sector and a unique skill set that will help OSA increase our portfolio of programmes for the engineering and applications communities,’ said Elizabeth Rogan, OSA chief executive officer.
Prior to this position, Hausken worked as a programme manager for the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association; a technology policy analyst at the US Congressional Office of Technology Assessment; an optoelectronics researcher with Philips and Alcatel Alsthom Research; and a laboratory manager at Texas Instruments.
Hausken received his MSc and PhD in electrical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his B.S. in electrical engineering from Montana State University.
