Princeton Optronics – an expert in high efficiency, high power vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) and VCSEL arrays – have introduced a 250W VCSEL array at 808nm designed especially for hair removal and other aesthetics applications. The array can be operated for a pulse duration of 25 to 100mS.
VCSELs offer a major advantage in the hair removal market for their high power, low cost and packaging simplicity. The 250W VCSEL array is intended for other aesthetic applications as well as hair removal, such as wrinkle and fat mitigation.
Specifically for hair removal, between 12 and 24 250W arrays will be mounted on a submount, and the output light will be focused down to a smaller area, delivering a pulse energy between 20-100J. A 2x2 array of VCSELs will deliver 1kW of power, and a 4x3 array will deliver 3kW of power.
