The global launch of advanced optical shutter and rotary solenoid device pairings has been announced by Daco Instruments, part of the Alinabal Group. The combined technologies offer power efficiency and customisation flexibility, along with increased reliability and cost-effectiveness.
The advanced optical shutters and rotary solenoid device pairings are used to provide highly precise blocking, unblocking and modulation of beams of natural or UV light for a wide range of applications including medical devices, thermal and infrared imaging, and spectrometers.
According to the company, Daco rotary solenoids are up to 25 per cent more reliable than linear solenoid technologies, and can match the advanced reliability of Iris shutter technologies while remaining up to twice as cost-effective. In addition, Daco spring or bi-stable solenoids consume up to 50 per cent less energy than Iris shutters and as much as 15 per cent less energy than competing rotary solenoid technologies.
The company provides both spring format (for applications that prioritise reliability) and bi-stable format (for applications that prioritise energy efficiency) shutters and rotary solenoids. Both clockwise and counterclockwise rotations are available with rotation angles of up to 60° for spring solenoids, and up to 75° for bi-stable solenoids. A wide variety of operating voltage, angle of rotation, direction of rotation, shutter sizes and shapes are available and can be highly customised to meet the precise needs of each application.
