Distributed via Elliot Scientific, Thales Laser has introduced the Atlas pump laser. Utilising glass phosphate technology, with a typical repetition rate of one shot per minute (up to 0.05Hz), Atlas is designed to deliver 2 x 25J pulses in the green with 20ns pulse duration. Great care is taken to keep a smooth, super-Gaussian beam profile. With the laser head measuring only 150 x 200cm, the Atlas pump laser has a compact footprint.
Thales Laser has drawn on several technologies to achieve excellent beam quality with much reduced amplitude modulation. A new ‘beam shaper’ optimises the fill factor and energy extraction is highly efficient without introducing any additional diffraction effects. Employing these technologies 50J at 527nm is extracted using only six amplifiers.
