Multiwave Photonics has released the Higher Power Broadband ASE Source at 1µm (BBS-1um-45-U), which is a new addition to its Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) fibre sources family.
The device offers a broadband output higher than 45mW, optimised for Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), electronic and optical component testing, medical and industrial imaging in optical sensing applications even as high dense source for spectrum slicing.
The Broadband ASE Source at 1 µm uses a proprietary all-single-mode fibre design that ensures a diffraction-limited output beam that can be tightly focused.
The high performance, compact and reliable optical source is based on Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) from a diode-pumped Yb-doped fibre. This source delivers high spectral density and stable output in the wavelength range 1,025nm to 1,075nm.
Multiwave offers two types of Broadband ASE Sources, with different output powers. Firstly, the Standard Broadband Source, with >25mW and a 30dB back reflection tolerance and, secondly, the Higher Power Broadband Source, with >45mW and a 13dB back reflection tolerance. For this source, the back reflections should not exceed five per cent or approximately 2.5mW.
The source is also offered with unpolarised or linearly polarised output with up to 45mW output power and is powered through a built-in electrical connector.
