Dr. Steve Buckley has joined Ocean Optics, Inc., a Halma plc company, as Vice President, Product Development and Engineering. Buckley will be responsible for the leadership of the Ocean Optics engineering and product development teams globally with a focus on the delivery of next-generation optical sensing systems and solutions. His track record of bringing innovative solutions to complex problems, coupled with Ocean Optics’ experienced and deep engineering team, will enhance the company’s ability to develop solutions to address customers’ most complex problems.
Steve Buckley has spent his career in photonics engineering and development, working first in academe, followed by over 10 years of technology leadership in entrepreneurial ventures and businesses. He is intrigued by the promise of spectroscopy coupled with intelligent analysis systems to provide answers in a variety of areas, from biochemistry to industrial materials analysis. Most recently, Buckley was CEO of Flash Photonics, Inc., and CEO of Lightspeed Microscopy, a start-up in Seattle, Wash.
Buckley studied Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University, and completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California Berkeley.
