Photron, a provider of high-speed cameras and image analysis software, has introduced the Fastcam SA8 high-speed camera with 1,280 x 1,024 pixel image resolution and up to 3,500 frames per second.
Increased frame rates are also available at reduced resolution, including 1,280 x 720 (720p) at 5,000 fps. Photron’s Fastcam SA8 digital sensor provides sensitivity up to ISO 5000 for monochrome and ISO 2500 for colour. The sensor size, at 12.8 x 10.2mm, is compatible with one-inch C-mount and Nikon G-type lenses. Two memory options include 4GB and 8GB with gigabit ethernet interface.
The SA8 camera is housed in a sealed camera body, making it suitable for imaging in harsh environments without ingress of dust and other contaminants. Applications include automotive safety testing, engineering research, materials science, fluid dynamics, military, defence, aerospace research, and ballistic imaging.
