Scitec Instruments has introduced a new 4W wire wound IR source suitable for use in laboratory or field instrumentation due to its long life and stable properties.
The IR-30 is a coil wound, supported broadband IR source mounted on a TO-5 header. At steady state the coiled filament operates at 950°C when powered with 4W (2.5 V, 1.6 amps).
The IR-30 can be pulsed up to 1Hz with a higher power input. When operated at 1Hz, 50 per cent duty cycle with 7.1W (3.5V), the output is a well defined saw tooth with around 34 per cent modulation depth.
Emissivity of the emitter is about 0.75 and it has an expected lifetime of 25,000 hours. Active area is 1.8 x 1.8mm.
