Edmund Optics has introduced new laser crystals. Nd:YAG laser crystals feature high optical homogeneity, high laser damage thresholds, processing accuracy and good stability. They provide superior fluorescence lifetime and thermal conductivity for maximum throughput at 1,064nm. The crystals are for high-power CW, Q-switched or single mode operation.
Nd:YVO4 crystals feature high damage thresholds, strong mechanical properties and superior optical properties. Nd:YVO4 has a large stimulated emission cross section, high absorption, and a broad absorption band centred at 807nm for compact DPSS lasers. The crystals can lase at 1,342nm, 1,064nm, and 914nm with associated harmonics in the green and blue wavelengths.
Ti:sapphire crystals provide large gain and emission bandwidths with high laser damage thresholds and saturation power. With high thermal conductivity, they are suitable for implementation into femtosecond pulsed or wavelength tunable CW lasers.
Yb:KGW and Yb:KYW crystals are low quantum defect lasing materials used to generate high power, ultrashort pulses. They offer a laser output at 1,020-1,060nm with more than 55 per cent slope efficiency with diode pumping.
