Tower Optical has released a series of stock micro-prisms with sizes from 0.5mm to 5.0mm for development of fibre optic and medical products. The size range of these prisms allows miniature packaging of solid-state lasers and associated optical components. The prisms are right angle type and are one-half of a cube.
The Tower Optical 4531 series of micro prisms contains nine members including 0.5 mm, 0.7mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm, and 5.0mm. The MPU series are manufactured from BK7 optical glass. They feature flatness of λ/2 at 633nm, surface quality of 40-20 and angular tolerance of ±3 arc minutes. The finished size is one-half of a cube of the same dimensions. These micro prisms are supplied uncoated. Coatings are available as a custom product and include a wide variety of AR coatings for the legs and reflective coatings for the hypotenuse. The prisms can be customised to exact optical requirements of the application.
