Optotune has launched a series of laser speckle reducers, available from Pacer. A new polymer material has been used for the diffusers, which leads to transmission of up to 94 per cent and a damage threshold of 300W/cm2. The devices are compact with no mechanics, noise or vibration and have a low power consumption.
The reducers are essentially moving diffusers. Electroactive polymers are used to generate an oscillating motion, for example 400µm travel at 300Hz. This electrostatic principle is power-efficient and free of mechanics to give a long lifetime.
They are suitable for laser projection displays from cinema to pico, head-up displays, beam homogenisers, metrology, microscopy, interferometry and lithography.
