Distributor BFi Optilas has introduced the PF Absorber line of high damage threshold power volume absorbers for short pulse lasers (<1µs), which are manufactured by Ophir. The sensors absorb a laser's energy in the volume of the material being used. The sensors make use of a spray deposited on the surface and provide significantly higher power handling capacity and faster response times than is possible with typical glass or ceramic substrates. They sensors can handle power densities of up to to 3KW/cm2, with response times as short as one second. The PF Absorber sensors are available in four models for 15 to 150W lasers.
