CDA, a German manufacturer of microstructures in plastic for optical and microfluidic applications, has extended its integration capability for fabricating double-sided structures in plastic. These structures could be used for refractive micro-optical elements and arrays and diffractive structures (DOEs), as well as microfluidic structures and surface structuring for analytical lab-on-a-chip applications.
The upper and lower moulds of the structure are manufactured separately, and are then positioned to tolerances of +/-5µm or less for the moulding process. The resulting double-sided structure exhibits the same positional accuracy between its two surfaces.
The bonding process ensures full compatibility with adverse environments, and in particular with sensitive biological systems.
