PowerPhotonic appoints FTSE company veteran to the board

PowerPhotonic announced that David Evans will join PowerPhotonic’s board of directors, strengthening the company’s non-executive team.

David has been a director of FTSE companies for over 20 years. He is an electronics engineer by training, spending his early career at GEC-Marconi, which at 34 years of age, culminated in heading up the Neston Underwater Systems Division. He joined Chemring Group in 1987 and was CEO of Chemring from 1999 to 2005 when he retired, but remained on the Board for another six years as a non-executive. During his time at Chemring, annual turnover increased from £21 million to £745 million and the Group established itself as an international market leader with its niche defence product.

In 2007, he joined Avon Rubber as non-executive director and was appointed non-executive chairman in February 2012. Avon Rubber is an international company specialising in first responder, fire and military respirator systems and milking products. In his time at Avon-Rubber annual turnover has doubled to £134 million and profits before taxation from loss making to £19 million and market cap more than tripling in his time as chairman.
