OFS, a designer, manufacturer, and supplier of innovative fibre optic products, is currently showcasing its new shape sensor optical fibre at Photonics West in San Francisco.
The company has developed a technology platform to produce high quality twisted multicore optical fibre with continuous fibre Bragg gratings to meet critical 3D shape sensing specifications such as: twist rate, coating concentricity, grating reflectivity, and grating spacing. The platform is able to write the high quality continuous gratings without stripping and recoating fibres, thus preserving their mechanical integrity.
OFS provides a wide range of fibres with optimised features such as multiple cores, select cutoff, specific numerical apertures, and core to core spacing.
