Bern Optics has launched a range of submillimeter achromatic lenses as small as 0.20mm diameters. The most common type of achromat is an achromatic doublet, a compound lens consisting of two elements cemented together. These precision, micro-miniature optical components – some as small as a grain of salt – can be custom engineered, ground and polished to micron tolerances. They are ideal for use in optical imaging applications such as endoscopes.
In addition to careful control of the grinding and polishing of these complex lenses, Bern Optics quality control regimen verifies the centration of each element before and after cementing. They can be produced with or without specialised coatings to meet the specific requirements of the application.
