Edmund Optics (EO) has launched its Techspec BeamX laser beam expanders. The BeamX family of laser beam expanders features a high performance optical design in a compact package, suited for integration into new or existing optical systems.
Manufactured of fused silica, its Techspec BeamX laser beam expanders are available in 532 nm, 633 and 1064 nm wavelengths with broadband options available. The expanders have an excellent 1/10 wave transmitted wavefront.
Magnifications of 3X, 5X and 10X support common Nd: YAG and a variety of other laser sources. They provide diffraction-limited performance over the Z/v wave input beam diameter to eliminate the need for critical alignment. The system provides focusing with no internal rotation of optics. The focus adjustment allows easy divergence correction, collimation and focusing.
BeamX Laser Beam Expanders feature a maximum input aperture of 11mm, although optimum energy throughput beyond the wavefront-optimised input beam diameter can be achieved. The entire family of its BeamX laser beam expanders is compatible for use with the Techspec F-Theta Scanning Lenses. The C&T mounting threads are compatible with Edmund Optics’ line of threaded mounting components. Mounting can also be done with special mounting clamps, sold separately.
The durable BeamX laser beam expanders feature a high damage threshold, with up to 5 J/cm2 for an 8ns pulse at 532nm, up to 15 J/cm2 for a 10ns pulse at 1064 and up to 5 J/cm2 for an 8ns pulse in both the NIR and VIS. They are designed for use in high damage threshold applications such as laser engraving and high power laser research.
