TeraView has appointed Dr Tom Juliano as one of its applications engineers. Based in New York, Dr Juliano is a recent graduate of Syracuse University where he was awarded a PhD in Chemistry whilst studying under Professor Tim Korter. His research included the use of terahertz spectroscopy and solid-state density functional theory to explore small organic molecules. Dr Juliano will provide additional customer support within North America in areas such as pharmaceuticals, non-destructive testing and the automotive industry.
Dr Phil Taday, principal scientist at TeraView and head of TeraView’s Applications Group, commented: ‘TeraView has provided excellent practical support to its customers with respect to measurements and experiments. With the appointment of Dr Juliano, we are now able to provide additional theoretical understanding to the spectra observed in the terahertz region. Dr Juliano will also provide valuable practical support to our industrial customers using our systems to address their product issues.’
Professor Korter, currently head of the Department of Chemistry at Syracuse University added: ‘This is an excellent example of the result of international collaboration between universities and companies based in the US and Europe, and between the academic world and industry in the two regions.’
Dr Don Arnone, TeraView CEO commented: ‘There has been a long-standing collaboration between TeraView and Syracuse University, and these efforts have helped TeraView enhance our customer support and scientific presence in North America, both of which are key to our future success and that of the technology.’
