Arden Photonics has introduced the VFI-1200, an interferometric inspection system specifically designed for checking the surface quality and flatness of cleaved, polished or lensed fibres. With two modes of operation – inspect and fringe – users can check the flatness and the end quality of their cleaved, polished or lensed fibre end with just one fibre insertion.
The circle measurement tool offers real-time drag and drop, and easily visible results, making it quicker and simpler to make measurements, whilst also reducing the chance of user errors. The fringe analysis mode enables measurement of polished fibres with circular fringe patterns. It counts fringes and calculates the radius of the curvature of the fibre end-face.
Furthermore, the VFI comes with an efficient software package that enables users to grab, save, and print images. This provides the ability to record vital data and produce QA reports for internal use or to supply to customers. The report generator enables users to include up to 20 cleave images in one report along with comments.
