The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA)’s ambitious mission to amplify the voice of the industry remains as robust as ever, with a welcome return to live member events this past year.
Its much-admired current president, Dr Chris Yates, has juggled a challenging brief, with a particular focus on supporting the development of new companies, broadening the scope of sensor technologies within the EMVA and driving the wider awareness of industry initiatives. He has achieved this during volatile world events, including difficult supply-chain issues and the COVID-19 disruption!
Yates is also a director at Vision Ventures – a company with a strong track record of building business deals to drive growth and innovation. His work on designing ferroelectric liquid crystal on silicon micro-displays helped get him noticed, along with the founding of the Scottish industrial 3D time-of-flight imaging specialist Odos, which was acquired by Rockwell Automation in 2017. The sector is lucky to have advocates as passionate and respected as Chris.
