Danish companies Crystal Fibre, a commercial supplier of micro-structured speciality fibre, and Koheras, a developer of ultra-precise fibre lasers including the SuperK range of supercontinuum white light lasers, will merge to form the single company NKT Photonics.
The companies involved state that the merger is a consequence of the increasing synergy between the two companies, serving a market that continually requires innovative, competitive and well-proven fibre-based solutions. NKT Photonics leverages the combined strengths of both companies to better serve its existing and new clients with the most advanced solutions in fibre components, fibre subsystems, ultra precise fibre lasers and fibre-based white light lasers.
The Koheras ultra-precise fibre laser range, the SuperK white light supercontinuum portfolio, the aeroLASE amplifier modules and the Crystal Fibre nonlinear and Crystal Fibre speciality fibre products will remain established brands within NKT Photonics.
'The combination of the expertise from Crystal Fibre and the system integration know-how from Koheras, lays the foundation for an accelerated development of new and groundbreaking products from NKT Photonics,' adds Jakob Skov, chief executive of the new company.
