Short pulsed fibre laser producer Mobius Photonics has been granted a United States patent for its tailored pulse burst.
The patent covers a unique optical system that can produce user-specified bursts of laser pulses tailored in pulse heights, pulse widths, and pulse spacings. Potential applications range from high-pulse-energy materials processing to laser direct imaging and solar panel processing.
‘We're pleased to announce that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted us the tailored pulse burst patent,’ said Kiyomi Monro, Mobius chief executive officer.
Founded in 2005, Mobius Photonics produces fibre-based laser sources for applications ranging from material processing for solar cell and semiconductor fabrication and assembly, and flat-panel display manufacturing, to scientific uses such as super-resolution microscopy.
