Trumpf has expanded its Development Center at a cost of 13.5 million euros, creating 6,200 square metres of new floor space for offices and laboratories.
The laboratories are dedicated to the development of solid-state lasers. The expansion of the Development Center took 17 months.
Peter Leibinger is vice-chairman of the Trumpf management board. He said: ‘Schramberg is not only the cradle of the German laser industry. Today it is one of the world’s leaders in laser technology development and production.”
The Development Center’s expansion is a part of Trumpf’s innovation and growth strategy. Its opening was attended by 250 people including staff from the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen.
