AMS Technologies has introduced Princeton Lightwave’s high-performance fibre coupled laser diode with a high power of 400mW at 1550nm.
The laser diode features an ideal light source for EDFA applications to span distances beyond 360km at a wavelength of 1550nm. It is packaged in a hermetically sealed 14 Pin-Butterfly-casing with a closed loop photodiode for power monitoring. To facilitate cooling and ensure repeatable output power adjustments, the laser chip is been peltier-cooled with a copper heat sink and a thermistor to control the temperature. The most common used SMF-28 pigtail fibre is deployed and can optionally be swapped by a polarisation maintaining fibre and/or fibre Bragg grating (FBG) for wavelength precise stabilisation.
The high performance laser diode can be employed in diverse applications, such as lidar, test and measurement, medical, material processing and telecommunications.
