Ophir Photonics, global leader in precision laser measurement equipment and a Newport Corporation company, today announced a new line of High Power Fan Cooled Laser Sensors: FL1100A-BB-65, FL600A-BB-65, and FL600A-LP1-65. The sensors are compact devices that can measure very high laser power levels up to 1100W with no need for water cooling; this is almost twice the power of competitive devices. The sensors feature a large, 65mm aperture. They can measure laser power from 600mW to 1100W and energy from 250mJ to 600J.
"Traditionally, high power laser sensors require water cooling," said Ephraim Greenfield, CTO, Ophir Photonics. "The FL1100A and FL600A thermal sensors are designed with highly efficient fan cooling that is able to handle the higher powers. This eliminates the troublesome necessity of fixed water lines and the possibility of contaminated water or corroded sensors.
The end result is increased flexibility and ease of use."
The High Power Fan Cooled Thermal Sensors are available in three models:
FL600A-BB-65 for general purpose measurements, with broadband absorber, measures power from 600mW-600W
FL600A-LP1-65 for long pulses, with the LP1 absorber, measuring power from 1W-600W
FL1100A-BB-65 for highest powers, with broadband absorber, measuring power from 600mW-1100W
All Ophir thermal sensors feature a "Smart Connector" interface that operates with the company's StarLite, Nova II, and Vega smart displays, and Juno PC interface. The display is automatically configured and calibrated when plugged into one of the company's laser measurement heads.
