Rubis-Precis is offering its customers bespoke components made in synthetic sapphire.
Sapphire offers a combination of properties, including high hardness (1800 Vickers - second only to diamond), resistance to acids and alkalis, stability at high temperatures (2000°C), good electrical insulation, and optical transmission in visible, UV and IR (from 0.2 to 5um). It is also a bio-compatible material.
There are many industrial applications of sapphire including windows, lenses and balls for optics and fibre – optic, ultra high vacuum, high pressure and medical devices. Rubis-Precis offers a service for the production of sapphire components in all forms, from individual prototypes up to runs of hundreds of thousands of pieces.
