JP Sercel Associates (JPSA) has hired Dr Rouzbeh Sarrafi as an applications engineer in its research lab. Dr Sarrafi brings several years of research experience in materials engineering and materials processing at Southern Methodist University (SMU).
Sarrafi received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on materials processing at SMU. Before joining JPSA, Sarrafi was the research assistant and later became a research engineer at Centre for Laser-Aided Manufacturing at the university. He has developed several key enabling laser processes, which are in use by numerous industries, and led to the publication of 18 papers in advanced materials processing.
Jeffrey Sercel, chairman and CTO of JPSA, said: 'We are pleased to welcome Dr Rouzbeh Sarrafi as the newest applications engineer at JPSA. With his strong background in laser applications, laser-material interaction, and laser-aided manufacturing, he is well suited for developing new processes using ultrashort solid state laser systems in our research lab.' Sarrafi will also be responsible for the complete parameterisation, setup, and operation of excimer and solid state laser systems to produce quality parts and service for JPSA’s customers.
