Edmund Optics has launched a line of UV Fused Silica Corner Cube Retroreflectors. These prisms are designed to aid precision alignment: when a laser beam hits the corner cube, it reflects back in the direction that it came - no matter what angle it arrived at. Applications include long path length metrology, remote sensing, and velocimetry.
The fused silica corner cubes offer excellent transmission in the UV, visible, and near-IR, and are made from a material with a coefficient of thermal expansion of only 0.5mm/°C, which means that temperature variations have little impact on their operation.
The corner cubes are available in four sizes ranging from 7.16-mm to slightly more than 50 mm in diameter, with the larger sizes offering three arcsec beam deviation. All four sizes are offered with or without an aluminum coating to enhance overall efficiency.
